Welcome to The BodyPop Questionnaire, where a special guest answers questions and gives recommendations that are “a little body image, a little pop culture!” If you’re interested in being featured, head on over here! 📝 I’d absolutely love to have you! 💗
Hi, Everyone! OMG, I cannot wait for you to meet this week’s special guest -
! Not only is Kaitlynn SUCH a girly girl (think: Taylor Swift-ie, lover of Trader Joe’s seasonal snacks, Timothee Chalamet superfan), she’s also passionate about her beliefs and very smart (think: law school student)! You can see all of this in her Substack, the big sis RECAP, which makes me feel like I’m at a slumber party every time I read it, it’s just SO MUCH FUN and full of content that makes the girliest parts of my brain come alive! You’ll see what I mean by her TikTok rec - an account that’ll hopefully be featuring my pup (and maybe yours?) - sometime soon! And so, without further ado, please meet Kaitlynn! 💖
Please introduce yourself. Tell us ANYTHING you'd like, including where you're located and how you take your coffee!
Hi Cuties!! My name is
(🤳: kaitlynn.olivas) and I'm the writer of the big sis RECAP Substack. Each week, I RECAP my life (I go through Recs, Entertainment, Consumption, thoughts on being an Adult, and Posts I've been loving). TLDR: It’s a weekly deep dive into life’s highs and lows and everything in between by a twenty-seven-year-old who feels like a fake adult. When I'm not thinking about what I want to put into my newsletter each week, I go to law school (I'm starting my third and final year in the fall). I love reading, watching movies, taking naps, and spending time with friends and my boyfriend! I love talking to people, and getting to know new people. I truly believe we all have a story and a life worth sharing with others! Is there a type of clothing or specific outfit you wear that makes you feel the most comfortable in your body?
I’ve been learning to love a high-waisted bottom (jeans or shorts), and then a nice structured tank top that hits right at the top of the pants, so it’s almost cropped but not quite and hits my waist nicely.
Are there any body positive people whose messaging you like on social media? What makes them appeal to you?
Brittany Boyack. She’s very similar in size to me and has the COOLEST style. It’s so unique and each day is different. It’s a nice reminder that: 1) You can wear anything in any body, but also 2) You don't have to have a perfect aesthetic; you can wear a chic outfit one day and a grunge outfit the next.
Is there a type of movement you enjoy - walking the dog/taking an exercise class/etc.?
I live in New York City and have learned to LOVE going on walks; it’s a great way to see the city, and to get gentle movement in. I was also going to a couple of reformer pilates classes and I always felt so strong afterwards, but money prevents me from going more often.
What's the difference between how you view your body now, as opposed to how you viewed it when you were younger?
I think I've gone in waves my whole life between hating my body and my size and comparing it with others, versus liking my body and trying to love it because it gives me the life I want. It helps me move and it gives me energy and allows me to travel and walk and work.
Who's your "Body Icon" - aka a celebrity you admire for or whose influenced you in how they handle body image - and why?
I've been really loving and appreciating Renee Rapp and her openness about her body image struggles and struggles with disordered eating, all while also telling the world to fuck off!

Can you recommend a fab scripted show or a movie?
🎬 Little Women (the 2019 adaptation) 🎬 Before Sunrise // Before Sunset 🎬 Past Lives 🎬 Asteroid City
C'mon - I can list off 100 more, I LOVE movies!!!
Tell us about one of your favorite Instagram or TikTok accounts!
I'm a sucker for Emilie Kiser onTikTok. I love watching her videos and her family; she seems so genuine and her content is addictive. 🤳: @emiliekiser 🎥: @emiliekiser
I also love the We Rate Dogs TikTok account. Each Friday, they do a "5 Best Dogs of the Week" roundup, and every week I am crying at the goodness of dogs. 💻: weratedogs.com 🤳: @weratedogs 🎥: @weratedogs 📝: Click here here to fill out a form and submit your dog!
What's the latest book you've read that you couldn't put down?
Funny Story, by Emily Henry. I truly just gobble up her books so fast! She writes such realistic story lines and characters.
Also - Good Material, by Dolly Alderton. I love her writing so much.
Podcast recommendation, please!
I have a couple, I'm a big podcast gal:
I love the What We Said podcast, hosted by Jaci Marie Smith and Chelsey Jade Curtis. I've been following them for almost ten years now. They’re a bestie duo and the banter between them is so funny.
Another one is called The Bad Broadcast, hosted by Madi Murphy. She uses her podcast as a place to rant about the world and share submitted stories. I love her authenticity and vulnerability.
And now! A favorite question James Lipton asked his guests following each interview on Inside the Actors Studio (taken from a questionnaire originated by Bernard Pivot): What's your favorite curse word?!
Ooh, good question! I didn't start cussing until I was about twenty-five. I probably say
or
most often, but a nice use of the word
is fun as well.
I loved this! The completionist in me feels compelled to say that you have to complete the Linklater trilogy with Before Midnight (but the first two, Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, are elite).
Thank you so much for letting me be a special guest!! I love your newsletter and LOVED being able to be part of it ♡
