🚗 Here’s a Story Someone Told Me About Their Experience in a Rideshare:
I’m REALLY, REALLY trying not to care about what other people think - mostly because my body has changed so much, but also because I feel like this is something that’s always been an issue in my life. As I continue working on it, I’m reminded of a story my old therapist shared about an experience she had in a Via (a rideshare no longer in existence). I’ll tell it in her words:

A few months ago, I was in the front of a Via - and a woman was in the back - when the driver started yelling at another car. It was making me (and the woman, I assumed) uncomfortable, so I told the driver he was being inappropriate and if he didn’t stop, I’d report him. Later, another woman got in the car. My stop was first, and I’d been so turned off by the driver’s behavior that I didn’t thank him when I got out.
When I walked away, I made assumptions (pretty accurate ones, I think) about how these three people saw me: The driver was annoyed with me because I told him to stop yelling, the woman in the back thought I was a hero for standing up for us, and the woman who got in after the incident wondered why I didn’t say thank you and thought I was rude.
Everyone had a different opinion of me, and there was nothing I could do about it. It bothered me, but all I could control was how I’d acted, not how they thought of me. What was I gonna do - turn around, chase the car down, and explain myself to everyone? It was out of my hands.

The way my therapist broke down everyone’s opinions of her reminds me of the Wayne Dyer quote: “What other people think of me is none of my business.” And what’s always resonated about this story is she actually put that idea into practice! If anyone’s like moi, you have a folder in your phone dedicated to pithy quotes, but rarely do you act on the sentiments they express. This story helps me remember at least to try.
🚲 Speaking Of What Other People Think, Here’s A Story About Fitness Companies That Turn Classes Into Competitions:
One Saturday, I was really proud after completing a spin class since I have a tumultuous relationship with exercise. That feeling was short-lived when I received an email on the way home: I had the slowest bike time in class and came in last place. I…didn’t know we were racing? I’d been so excited to A) have found movement I enjoyed and B) have gotten through the class. But now, I was literally being called a loser. It was awful to feel like my experience didn’t count because I came in last. But then I remembered the words of my mother’s friend (a former gym teacher) who’d said to me during a conversation about exercise: “As long as you get off your ass, it counts.” I mean yes, some of us are in the front of the class turning our bikes up to their highest resistance and getting out of the seat every time the teacher says to get out and pedaling along REALLY REALLY fast to whatever Taylor Swift song is playing, but some of us are more comfortable in the back with our bike’s resistance turned to zero and staying seated the entire time and going at our own pace and just feeling REALLY FUCKING PROUD about getting a little movement in and that’s ok, too! So yeah, to those fitness companies making it all about who wins and who loses, I say:
📷 Here’s a Very Inspiring Instagram Follow:
A friend of mine told me about Tally Rye (@tallyrye), and I wanted to spread the word! Tally started her page with the intention of sharing her diet and fitness journey, then realized her relationship with food and exercise was unhealthy, and now practices and teaches intuitive movement. She really walks the walk and I love her for it!!!
🖼 Here’s Some Body Positivity to Hang on Your Walls:
One of the best prezzies I’ve ever been given is the pic below, which my bf bought for me after learning my favorite quote by indisputable BOMBSHELL, Sophia Loren. It hangs in our dining room, natch, so I can see it and feel FABULOUS every time I eat a DELICIOUS bowl of pasta! 🍝
😖 Here’s a comment by Barbra Streisand on Melissa McCarthy’s Instagram That I Couldn’t Believe:
I’m not in the biz of roasting people (and clearly, Babs has been roasted enough for this), so I’ll just state what I think is the obvious: It is never okay to ask questions about (publicly OR privately - peeps are thinking this was meant to be a DM), give advice on, or comment on someone’s appearance. FULL. STOP. Melissa McCarthy quickly responded to the drama surrounding this, nipping the whole thing in the bud. She’s a classy gal.
🚢 Here’s Proof That Sometimes, When You Reach Out to A Celeb, They Respond!
Is Below Deck’s Captain Kerry considered a celeb?? I TOTALLY think so! I got into the show last year - when he was on Below Deck Adventure - and noticed that, after following him on Instagram, he liked some of my pics! I wrote him to say thank you, and HE ACTUALLY RESPONDED! *Swoon*
😁 Here’s Some Fun Stuff from the Week:
I was reminded by

Prepare to feel warm and mushy when you peep the example below☺ :I’m obsessed with this sweet little story of triplets whose parents FINALLY told them their birth order on their 18th birthday! Here’s the video of them finding out, and the reveal of their birth order is below it:
